Namibia records N$2 billion in agricultural exports

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has stated that the country recorded N$2 billion in agricultural exports during the latest review period.

She made the remarks during the State of the Nation Address (Sona) in Parliament.

“Namibia exported agricultural products worth 2 billion Namibia dollar, totaling about 90 000 metric tons.”

She said of the total exports, table grapes accounted for the largest share at 62 percent followed by tomatoes at 14 percent.

The President added that fruit production has shown gradual growth, increasing from 4 to 6 percent.

She said the country continues to dominate vegetable supply, holding a 56 percent market share valued at 323 million Namibia dollar, compared to imports at 44 percent worth 257 million in the domestic market.

“The country increased its white maize production from 33 000 metric tons to 69 541 metric tons by the end of the 2025 marketing season, accounting for 31% of total national consumption,” she said.

She said initiatives such as the Green Schemes are beginning to yield results, with maize and wheat production contributing millions to the agricultural economy.
