Burglars steal N$300 000 cash from jackpots and alcohol

Police in the Oshana Region are investigating a burglary in which suspects stole more than N$300 000 in cash and an undisclosed quantity of alcohol from VIP bar and Entertainment Casino on Friday.

According to police incident report, the owner received a cellphone call from a security guard stationed at the premises at Oneshila informing him of a break-in.

Upon arrival, the owner and two bar attendants discovered that padlocks to six jackpot machines had been cut off, and all cash boxes for both notes and coins had been emptied. No damage was reported to the machines themselves.

Various bottles of alcohol were also stolen, although the total value has not yet been determined.

The suspects further broke into a safe, believed to have been cut open using a cutting torch, and stole approximately N$40 000 in cash belonging to the bar, in addition to N$20 000 set aside as change for the jackpot machines.

Cash stolen from the six jackpot machines is estimated at N$240 000, bringing the total loss to over N$300 000.
