Suspended KwaZulu-Natal Regional Court president Eric Nzimande has been indicted on five counts of contravening the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act. He appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on charges stemming from allegations that Nzimande received unauthorised gratification of 230-thousand-rand for appointing acting Regional Court magistrates. The National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson in the province, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, says Nzimande was responsible for recommending these appointments to the minister of Justice and Correctional Services.
