The Multi-Party Charter For South Africa has denied reports that discussions were held with former FirstRand chairperson Roger Jardine about being their presidential candidate. Reportedly, Jardine met with senior leaders from the DA including leader, John Steenhuisen, and Federal Council chairperson, Helen Zille, where they discussed him being the face of the multiparty charter and also the presidential candidate. The charter says that any decision to support a joint presidential candidate, either before or after next year’s election, would be based on the merit and mandate of the candidate.
