Guterres writes to UN Secretary General calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire

The United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has invoked article 99 of the UN charter. This gives him the power to further persuade the Security Council to take action on a matter that threatens peace and security. Antonio Guterres has written to the President of the Security Council appealing for an urgent humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. He says the UN is facing a severe collapse of the humanitarian system in Gaza.
