The updated National Housing Policy and its Implementation Action Plan outline ambitious goals, including the swift provision of services to 340,000 new plots and the construction of more than 200,000 houses over the forthcoming five years. Approved by the Cabinet in November 2023, the policy also entails scaling up and improving a minimum of 60% of current informal settlements nationwide from 2024 to 2029. President Hage Geingob unveiled these objectives during the handover of 89 finalized houses developed under the Mass Housing Development Programme in Swakopmund on Thursday.
