Erongo Education Director Identifies Broken Families as Factor in Students’ Academic Struggles, Calls for Unified Action Against GBV

Background

Ernfriede Stephanus, the Education Director for Erongo, emphasized on Monday that fractured families contribute to students’ substandard academic performance. Speaking during a parliamentary standing committee hearing on gender-based violence (GBV) and the killing of women in Walvis Bay, Stephanus highlighted the impact of broken families on pupils’ achievements in school. Additionally, she urged non-governmental organizations and various groups to collaborate in developing a comprehensive program addressing GBV and other prevailing social issues.
