today23 January, 2024

Background

In a distressing incident at Oshilulu village in the Omusati Region, a newborn baby girl was successfully rescued from a pit latrine on Sunday. The Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator for Omusati, Moses Simaho, revealed that a 30-year-old woman has been taken into custody in connection with the incident. The suspect, now under police guard at Okahao District Hospital, is set to face charges of attempted murder, concealment of birth, and defeating the course of justice. Simaho explained that the allegations suggest the woman gave birth at home and subsequently disposed of the newborn in the pit latrine.
