Donald Trump defends defamatory remarks in New York trial

Former US President Donald Trump says he made defamatory remarks whilst in the White House “to defend himself, his family and the Presidency.” Testifying in a New York courtroom on Thursday, Mr Trump insists he didn’t intend to cause harm to E Jean Carroll. He accused the author of making up a sexual abuse claim against him for financial and political reasons. But, he says, he stands by his denial of her allegations.
