Former US President Donald Trump says he made defamatory remarks whilst in the White House “to defend himself, his family and the Presidency.” Testifying in a New York courtroom on Thursday, Mr Trump insists he didn’t intend to cause harm to E Jean Carroll. He accused the author of making up a sexual abuse claim against him for financial and political reasons. But, he says, he stands by his denial of her allegations. Our US Correspondent Benji Hyer reports.
