Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, Head of the Oshana Community Policing Sub-division within the Namibian Police Force, emphasized the importance of child safety during a ‘Be Safe’ campaign at Onaushe Combined School. Aiyambo specifically advised parents to ensure that their children sleep in separate rooms to mitigate the risk of potential rape incidents. Addressing students on Tuesday, Aiyambo highlighted instances where allegations of sibling rape had occurred, resulting in some cases where girls were impregnated. Consequently, he urged parents to consider separating their children into individual sleeping spaces once they reach a certain age as a precautionary measure against such unfortunate incidents.
