Namibians in their hundreds gathered alongside the main road at Katutura Shopping Complex in Windhoek to pay their last respects to the late President Hage Geingob, whose remains were escorted by a military procession.

Geingob’s remains were driven through designated areas in Windhoek ahead of his official memorial service on Saturday and his burial on Sunday.

Geingob was diagnosed with cancer and died on 04 February 2024.

Regina Mathews, a member of the public expressed sadness over Geingob’s death and commended him for the work he had done as Head of State.

“I stand here proud of my president for the good job that he has done. I have come to pay my respect. This respect is not only for him but also for the Namibian nation. We should follow his footsteps as brothers and sisters,” she said.
