In an exclusive interview, Lifalaza Simataa, a prominent figure within the Landless People’s Movement (LPM), shared insights into the party’s vibrant celebration of its fifth-year anniversary in Tsumeb. The festivities took place over the weekend, spanning both Tsumeb on the second of March and Grootfontein on the third.

Simataa began by emphasizing the significance of the occasion, not only marking the party’s fifth anniversary but also serving as the launchpad for their campaign leading up to the national elections later in the year. The choice to host the event in Tsumeb was intentional, symbolizing the party’s growth beyond its perceived southern roots.

The event in Tsumeb, where the party currently has no councillors, turned out to be an extravagant affair at the stadium, drawing between 800 and 1000 enthusiastic individuals from the town and its surrounding areas.

Simataa expressed gratitude for the diverse participation, with councillors from various regions, including the South, Windhoek, Rundu, and the Northern regions. The youngest operative secretary in the country, David, addressed the crowd, underscoring the dynamic nature of the party’s leadership.

Utaara Mootu delivered the introduction speech to the LPM leader and chief change campaigner, Bernardus Swartbooi. The event featured speeches from various leaders, contributing to a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere.

The following day, the festivities continued with a rally in Grootfontein, further solidifying the party’s presence and engaging with the local community. A convoy moved through the town, symbolizing the growth and momentum of the “Orange Wave,” as Simataa referred to it.

Simataa deemed the event a success, particularly given Tsumeb’s status as one of the towns where the party is expanding its political footprint. While acknowledging the party’s strong foundation in the South, Simataa emphasized that the LPM is a national party that has grown substantially.

During the celebration, the LPM showcased its elected councillors, hardworking individuals, and local leaders in Tsumeb. The event served as an opportunity to appreciate and recognize the efforts of branch managers and local leaders, showcasing the party’s diversity and inclusivity across different ethnicities and backgrounds.

In summary, the LPM’s anniversary celebration in Tsumeb was not just a commemoration of the past five years but a dynamic display of the party’s growth, diversity, and commitment to making an impact on the political landscape leading up to the upcoming elections.
