The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) undertook a Regional Stakeholder Engagement Forum to enhance member education initiatives. The targeted member engagement platform provided information on topical Fund related issues such as an overview of the Fund’s rules and procedures, admissions to the Fund, benefit statement enquiries, GIPF complaints handing processes, income tax and pension and financial literacy.

The forum hosted on 6 March 2024 at the Blue Whale Hotel in Walvis Bay in the Erongo Region further provided attendees with information from key stakeholders such as NAMRA, PSEMAS, NAMFISA, Allan Gray, and the Social Security Commission.

The event attended by employees of the Government of the Republic of Namibia and regional councils and employees of GIPF participating institutions was officially opened by Hon. Neville Andre Itope, Governor of the Erongo region.

In speaking at the event, Hon. Neville Andre Itope said, “as we continue to pick up the pieces and build our country in memory of all our late heroes such as His Excellency Dr. Geingob, initiatives such as this one is surely embraced. It is indeed my distinct pleasure and honour to welcome the GIPF to the Erongo region and as we gear back into normalcy as we hold hands to continue building an inclusive Namibian house.”

The Fund shall roll out this initiative to other regions such as the Hardap and //Kharas regions on 12 and 14 March 2024 at the River Chalets in Mariental and at the Schutzenhaus Guesthouse in Keetmanshoop.

“GIPF appeals to all its members and the public who are unable to attend the sessions to watch the livestream of this initiative on the Fund’s Facebook page during the above-mentioned dates. Speaking at the Erongo Stakeholder Engagement event Edwin Tjiramba, General Manager Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement said, “we at the GIPF believe that an informed member is a powerful member, so let us empower ourselves by gaining knowledge about our Fund”.
