Police Investigate Officer Accused of Assisting Suspect in Passport Theft

Authorities are probing a senior officer from the Otjiwarongo Criminal Investigations Unit for allegedly stealing a confiscated passport and providing it to a suspect for travel to and from South Africa. Inspector Ursula Mulongwane is accused of aiding Joao-Quinn Amado, an Angolan national facing fraud charges, in his travel on January 12 and 13 this year. Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, spokesperson for the Otjozondjupa police, confirmed the allegations received from the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court. A criminal case for the theft of the passport has been filed at the Otjiwarongo Police Station.
