today27 March, 2024

Background

Joseph Kauandenge, a member of parliament from the National Unity Democratic Organisation, has accused ministers of benefiting from resettlement farms despite claiming to be previously disadvantaged. Kauandenge raised concerns about the current definition of ‘previously disadvantaged’ under the Affirmative Action Act during a session in the National Assembly. He pointed out that many ministers obtained farms through resettlement, a process that could also be accessed commercially through banks.
