Saara Ndjimba, a representative from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, disclosed at the Oshikoto regional AIDS coordination committee meeting in Omuthiya that as of February 2024, a total of 22,970 individuals are receiving antiretroviral therapy for HIV treatment in the Oshikoto Region. Of these, 15,326 are females, while 7,644 are males. Ndjimba emphasized that individuals aged 20 years and above constitute the majority receiving ART. Furthermore, she encouraged the utilization of pre-exposure prophylaxis and post-exposure prophylaxis to decrease the risk of HIV infection before and after potential exposure.
