Competition Commission Imposes Fine on Bank of Namibia Governor and Others for Unapproved Merger

Background

The Namibian Competition Commission has fined Bank of Namibia Governor Johannes !Gawaxab, Ismael Gei-Khoibeb, and Gamma Investments CC for executing a merger without the necessary approval from the watchdog. According to NaCC’s statement, !Gawaxab sold his stake in Gamma to Gei-Khoibeb on June 10, 2020, violating the Competition Act. Corporate Communications Practitioner at NaCC, Dina //Gowases.
