Significant Cold Front Brings Rain, Snow, and Strong Winds to South Africa

today4 June, 2024

Background

Following a dry and warm May, South Africa will experience a significant drop in daytime temperatures with showers, thundershowers, and snow in elevated areas due to a developing cut-off low-pressure system. In a press statement, The S.A Weather Service says rain and strong winds will impact the Eastern Cape, extending over the province by Saturday, with heavy rainfall and rough sea conditions. Cold temperatures will spread across the country, bringing severe storms to the central and eastern regions by Sunday. The system is expected to weaken by Tuesday.
