According to reports, a leaked memo from Namibian Police Commissioner Moritz !Naruseb has revealed a connection between missing Namibian Police firearms and a recent increase in gang violence in South Africa. !Naruseb addressed the memo to Namibian Police Deputy Inspector Elias Mutota on August 11, 2023, following a five-day investigation conducted by the South African Police Service’s Directorate of Priority Crime Investigations (Hawks) in Namibia.
