The Home Affairs minister, Albert Kawana, has assured that the ministry will tackle the issues confronting the Namibian Police Force as funding becomes available. Speaking at the official opening of the week-long Namibian Police Force senior commander conference in Ongwediva, Kawana acknowledged the numerous challenges facing the police. He emphasized that combating crime is not solely the police’s responsibility but requires a collaborative approach, involving various institutions that address socio-economic issues often linked to criminal behavior. Additionally, Kawana announced plans to train 1,700 police cadets next month to address the current manpower shortage within NamPol.
