Governor of the Oshana region, Elia Irimari has addressed the Oshana Regional Forum. The Governor pointed out that corruption undermines economic development, erodes trust in public institutions, and hinders social progress. His remarks were made in the context of discussing the implementation of the 2024 National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) completed an evaluation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan 2016-2019. The strategy was developed in alignment with the United Nations Convention against Corruption, to strengthen integrity, accountability, and transparency across the country.

Approved by Cabinet in August 2016 and implemented from 2017 to March 2020, the previous strategy included 75 actions across 22 institutions. According to the final evaluation report, 70 of these actions, or 93%, were successfully executed. The remaining 7% were not completed.

The evaluation, validated by the NACS Steering Committee and other stakeholders during a workshop in October 2020, highlights the successful implementation of the strategy and sets the stage for Namibia’s next National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan for 2021-2025.
