Nedbank Citi Dash attracts 2 000 runners in fourth edition

On Sunday, 8 September, Nedbank Namibia hosted the fourth edition of its highly anticipated running event, the Nedbank Citi Dash.

The Nedbank Citi Dash saw over 2,000 participants take part in different road running categories which included a 10 km elite race, a 10km fun race and a 5km fun race.

The event, which has become a staple in the community’s fitness and lifestyle calendar, brought together running enthusiasts, families, and individuals of all fitness levels to promote health, wellness, and an active lifestyle.

The picturesque route, stretching across Windhoek’s Independence Avenue, offered participants a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors while challenging themselves physically. From seasoned runners aiming to beat their personal bests to beginners enjoying a leisurely run, the event catered to all.

All event runners received participation medals and refereshments for taking part in the Nedbank Citi Dash.

Elite runners, Daniel Paulus and Martha Shivolo, won big in the elite men and womens categories respectively. The two walked away with N$ 7 000 cash prizes, a trophy and a winners medal each, for achieveing this incredible feat.

Paulus broke the course record by completing his 10 km race in a time of 28 minutes and 53 seconds.

Speaking on the success of the event, Nedbank Namibia Communication and Public Relations Manager, Selma Kaulinge, reflected on the bank’s outlook on inclusivity and community engagement.

“At Nedbank Namibia, we believe that a healthy community is a thriving community. The Nedbank Citi Dash is about friends and families doing this run in unison. We’re thrilled to see such an incredible turnout this year, which demonstrates our community’s dedication to fitness and well-

being. This event is not just about running; it’s about bringing people together, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and creating lasting memories,” Kaulinge said.

The 2024 Nedbank Citi Dash was co-sponsored by Namibia Health Plan, Cycletec, Altra Running Shoes, Ineos Grenadier, and Checkers.
