Mass Housing Development Programme Faces Major Delays

The government’s Mass Housing Development Programme is experiencing significant setbacks, with progress visible at only three out of 21 project sites, though none are fully completed. During a recent site visit to Otjomuise Extension 10, the Urban and Rural Development minister, Erastus Uutoni revealed that 362 housing units remain uncompleted. In Opuwo, 24 houses are still unfinished, while Swakopmund, which initially had 505 uncompleted units, now has 186 remaining after 319 were completed between October 2022 and June 2023.
