NamPol to Crack Down on Shebeens Selling Alcohol to Schoolchildren

today17 October, 2024

Background

The Namibian Police are set to launch a blitz targeting shebeens and liquor outlets that sell alcohol to schoolchildren or allow them to hang out at their premises. This decision follows the release of a video showing pupils in Kavango East, some as young as nine years old, drinking alcohol at a cuca shop in Rundu. Police inspector general Joseph Shikongo announced that he will personally visit the region to address the issue and take action against the shebeen owners involved.
