The Katutura Residents Committee has threatened to strike in response to the City of Windhoek’s recent 5% rate hike. Committee spokesperson Shaun Gariseb expressed growing frustration among residents, who feel ignored and exploited by city leadership. The stark warning comes after the City of Windhoek announced on Tuesday that municipal tariffs, including water, rates and taxes, sewage, and waste management, would increase by 5% as of 1 October. Residents are becoming increasingly discontent with the rising costs of essential services.
