Last week, the Harold Pupkewitz Graduate School of Business (HP-GSB), in partnership with the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare (MGEPESW), successfully concluded a four-day Digital Literacy Training Programme for women micro-entrepreneurs. The training, held in the Khomas Region, is part of the EntreprenHer Programme, an initiative focused on fostering the growth of women-owned businesses through essential skills development.

The programme is a component of Phase III of the Acceleration of Women Micro-Entrepreneurs (AWOME) Programme, jointly supported by UN Women and the De Beers Group. As women micro-entrepreneurs increasingly navigate a digital world, the Digital Literacy Training aims to equip them with essential technology skills for business operations, management, and growth.

Over the past four days, more than 25 women entrepreneurs from the informal sector participated in hands-on workshops and learning sessions. The training covered core areas such as effective use of digital tools, e-commerce platforms, online payment systems, and digital marketing. By offering practical knowledge on managing business operations through digital platforms, the programme empowers participants to reach broader markets and enhance customer engagement.

The training also included pre- and post-session assessments to measure progress and identify areas for ongoing support. Participants expressed enthusiasm and confidence in applying their new digital skills to grow their businesses and overcome previous barriers to online access. The EntreprenHer Programme will continue to support these women through a three-month mentorship programme to ensure sustained impact.

One of the participants, Luise Ndimulunde, owner of Luise Boutique, shared her excitement about the new skills she gained: “I learned so much from this training. Now, I can use the internet to find new designs for my boutique, create a Facebook page to sell my clothes, and even respond to emails from clients and organisations like NAMRA. I feel more prepared to grow my business online.”

HP-GSB remains committed to fostering economic empowerment and skill-building among women entrepreneurs across Namibia, helping them thrive in an evolving, technology-driven business landscape.
