Karasburg Teen’s Tragic Death and Wildlife Crime in Zambezi Under Investigation

In Karasburg, 17-year-old Bredley Weterboer tragically passed away from neck injuries sustained during a street soccer game in Wester Kim location. The Namibian Police report indicates that despite being rushed to Karasburg and then Keetmanshoop State Hospital, he died in transit on January 3, 40 km from Keetmanshoop. An inquest is ongoing. Meanwhile, in Katima Mulilo’s Choi area, two Zambian nationals were arrested for possessing four elephant tusks without permits, violating the Controlled Wildlife Products and Trade Act. They also lacked valid immigration documents. Police investigations continue in both cases.
