MUN to Negotiate Kombat Mine Retrenchments

Background

The Mineworkers Union and Kombat Mine will enter negotiations on the conditions surrounding the retrenchment of 533 workers. One Africa TV’s NewsOnOne journalist, Hertha Ekandjo, reports that this comes after the mine initially intended to carry out the retrenchments without consulting the union.

Amupweya told our reporter Hertha Ekandjo from NewsOnOne that such conditions are important for a fair process, and would not have been possible had persisted with its original stance of excluding the union in negotiations:
