The Welwitchia University (WU) and Side-by-Side Early Intervention Centre yesterday announced the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to provide practical training and placement opportunities for Bachelor of Social Work students at Welwitchia University.
The MOA, signed by Prof. Marius Hedimbi, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Welwitchia University, and Huibrecht van Wyk, Managing Director of Side-by-Side Early Intervention Centre, establishes a collaborative framework that will enhance students’ professional skills and prepare them for the workforce, contributing positively to the community.
Under the terms of the MOA, Welwitchia University will provide theoretical instruction, while the Side-by-Side Early Intervention Centre will host practical placements where students will gain on-the-job training under the supervision of qualified fieldwork supervisors.
These supervisors will mentor students and oversee their progress, ensuring they meet
the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.
The anticipated outcome of this partnership is the successful completion of the training program and subsequent registration for students, enabling them to practice as qualified social workers in Namibia.
