Aranos woman loses over N$840,000 to fraud

A case of fraud is under police investigation following an incident that occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025, between 16h00 and 17h00 at Farm Wolftoon, near Aranos.

According to police, a 48-year-old Namibian woman was contacted telephonically by a person who identified himself as an employee of Telecom Namibia.

Accord to the police report, the suspect allegedly informed the complainant that her WIFI system needed to be updated and instructed her to download a remote access application called “ANYDESK” on both her laptop and cellphone.

Following the suspect’s instructions, the complainant unknowingly granted remote access to her devices.

During the process, a total amount of N$840,900.00 was reportedly transferred from her bank account without her consent.

The suspect is yet to be identified, and police investigations are ongoing.
