AfriForum has urged South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to take a clear position on farm attacks and condemn the chant “Kill the Boer,” following a United States government report that described farm attacks in South Africa as more than ordinary crimes.

The report, issued by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labour, said some of the farm attacks involved torture and murder without robbery, and criticised South African leaders for not speaking out.

AfriForum spokesperson Jacques Broodryk said the organisation wants the president to publicly reject the chant and prioritise the safety of rural communities. He added that farm attacks should be treated as a national priority crime and that failure to act sends the wrong message both locally and internationally.

The chant, originally from an apartheid-era protest song, resurfaced at a recent Economic Freedom Fighters rally. It has sparked legal and political controversy in South Africa.

Farm attacks remain a concern, especially in remote areas, and AfriForum continues to call for stronger police action and government accountability.
