Background

The Electoral Commission (ECN) has commenced its supplementary voter registration exercise, which runs from 4 August to 19 August 2025. This effort targets around 161,000 eligible voters who either missed the general registration window or require updates to their details.

ECN spokesperson De Wet Siluka confirmed that 4,233 registration points and 696 teams have been deployed across all 14 regions to reach residents nationwide.

The ECN says that teams are positioned across urban centers and remote locations. State resources and local partnerships ensure accessibility even in underserved areas. ECN also stressed the importance of accurate voter data to uphold election integrity and prevent registration fraud.

Siluka advised Namibians to use the extended registration window to ensure their electoral participation. He stressed that accurate voter rolls are fundamental to a transparent and credible democratic process.

According to Namibia Fact Check, the country conducted its General Voter Registration (GRV) from June to August 2024, registering 1.7 million voters across more than 4,200 sites.
