FlySafair has confirmed the end of the pilots’ strike following a formal agreement with trade union Solidarity.  Management and union representatives reached the deal through mediation facilitated by the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

According to Engineering News, FlySafair has started restoring its full flight schedule, with all aircraft returning to operation. Kirby Gordon, the airline’s Chief Marketing Officer, said the resumption of full capacity will help stabilize airfares, making travel more affordable for South Africans as seat availability increases across the network.

The terms of the agreement include a new pilot roster system that guarantees at least one 60-hour weekend off in each six-week cycle, with a minimum of nine such weekends per year and at least 10 days off per month. Pilots who work on leave days may reclaim these or exchange shifts. A one-off 15% ex gratia payment was granted to compensate for income losses incurred during the strike lockout period

FlySafair operates a service connecting Cape Town International Airport (CPT) to Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek.
