Noa Elago, a farmer from Amarika in the Omusati region, has suffered severe losses due to the ongoing wildfires in Etosha National Park. Elago told reporters that he lost 17 sheep and that three of his farms were completely destroyed.

“This is a devastating situation,” he said, describing the challenges he now faces as the fires continue to affect large areas of the region. Omusati is among the hardest-hit areas since the blaze began on 22 September, with thousands of hectares of farmland and grazing land burned.

Authorities are continuing firefighting efforts to contain the fires and prevent further destruction to livelihoods and wildlife in the region.
