By Maria Namupala

Oshikoto Regional governor Sacky Kathindi commissioned four boreholes to improve access to water.

The boreholes, valued at N$25 million, are at Akazulu, Onelao, Otatashe and Oshikondeilwa villages.

Speaking during the occasion, Kathindi said the regional council in collaboration with the government is working hard to improve communities’ well-being by ensuring that services are brought closer to them.

“The commissioning of these boreholes is not the end of our journey, it is part of a broader, sustained effort to secure water security for every household in our region,” said Kathindi.

He further added that as the governor he remains committed to mobilising resources, strengthening partnerships, and championing development interventions that uplift people’s lives in different constituencies of the region.

Kathindi stated that most villages, farms, and institutions remain without reliable access to water, and the situation demands swift, coordinated, and strategic action.

Governor urged residents to safeguard boreholes and use it responsibly, as it stands as a testament to collective effort the collaboration of government, traditional authorities, local leadership, technical teams, and community members who worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition.
