A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stock theft incident at a resettlement farm in the Hochfeld area. Police say three suspects remain at large.
The incident occurred on Friday at around 18h00 at Uitkoms Resettlement Farm in the Okahandja district.
It is alleged that the suspects unlawfully entered the complainant’s farm and slaughtered cattle without the owner’s consent. After slaughtering the animals, they reportedly loaded three carcasses into a vehicle and attempted to flee the scene.
Farm workers tried to stop the suspects, but they failed to comply, prompting a pursuit. During the chase, the suspects allegedly stopped the vehicle and fled on foot, taking the car keys with them.
Police later traced and arrested the driver, who was found in possession of the vehicle keys.
The three recovered carcasses are valued at approximately N$60 000.
The arrested suspect is currently in police custody, while police investigations continue and efforts to trace the remaining suspects are ongoing.
