President appoints minister and seven deputy ministers

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Thursday appointed a minister in the presidency and seven deputies to several ministries.

Nandi-Ndaitwah appointed Charles Mubita as minister in the presidency. Mubita was appointed last year as deputy minnister of Defence and Veterans Affairs before the current appointment.

Moses //Khumub has been appointed as deputy minister in the Office of the Vice President.

The appointments comes a year after the current administration assumed office with a handful of deputies appointed last year.

Former defence deputy minister Hilma Nicanor is the new advisor to the minister of defence.

Other appointments are Hambeleleni Ndjaleka to deputy minister of health and social services, while Hans Haikali takes up the role of deputy minister of works and transport.

The President further appointed Anselm Marungu as deputy minister of environment, forestry and tourism, and Wenzel Kavaka will serve as deputy minister of information, communications and technology.

In the home affairs portfolio, Edward Wambo assumes the position of deputy minister responsible for immigration, safety, and security.

Theresia Brant has been designated deputy minister of justice and labour relations.

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah called on the new appointees to meet their tasks with urgency, competence, and integrity.

“ The responsibilities you assume today are weighty, and they must not be taken lightly. Public office is sacred duty. It demands discpline, accountability, and an unrelenting focus on result. The expectation of people are high, and rightly so,” remarked Nandi-Ndaitwah.
