The government has constructed a total of 409 new classrooms across the country in a bid to ease overcrowding and improve access to education.

This was said by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Wednesday during State of the Nation Address (Sona) in Parliament.

“The aim is to improve access to education and the living conditions of learners,” she said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said this includes 237 primary and 172 pre-primary facilities, to ease overcrowding and expand access to education.

She says planned infrastructure expansion also included 40 administrative offices, 39 science laboratories, and 37 computer laboratories to strengthen teaching and learning.

Additional investments into libraries, ablution blocks, and learner support facilities were aimed at improving overall conditions, particularly in underserved communities.
