LA fires: 0% contained in unprecedented disaster

  Fire officials in Los Angeles say they still have no part of the 27,000 acre wildfires under control. More than 2000 properties and buildings have been destroyed and around 180,000 people have been told to evacuate. The city's mayor says high winds and droughts have created the "perfect storm". 6 people dead and more than 20 injured in stampede in India

NamWater announces Dam Water Levels for January 8

NamWater says the water levels at several dams have shown varying changes, according to the latest data . Swakoppoort's water level remained stable, while Von Bach's water level increased slightly to 23.9% capacity. Omatako and Otjivero Silt experienced minor changes, with the river at Otjivero halting its flow. Other dams, including Hardap and Oanob, recorded slight increases in water volume, with Hardap showing notable inflows.

MK Party Suspends Members Over By-Election Candidate Error

  MK Party has suspended two members after they unlawfully registered the wrong candidate for the by-elections in Msunduzi Ward 2, Mgungundlovu Region in KwaZulu-Natal. The candidate, who was unlawfully registered has also been suspended for accepting the nomination, despite having lost the internal elections. The MK Party’s, Sipho Tyira, says the national disciplinary committee will now proceed with the disciplinary inquiry against the implicated members:

BOSA Pushes Petition to Raise Matric Pass Mark to 50%.

  Build One South Africa has launched a petition urging Basic Education minister Siviwe Gwarube to scrap the minimum matric pass mark from 30-percent and increase it to 50-percent.
