Western Cape Schools to Close Due to Safety Concerns ….

Western Cape MEC for Education, David Maynier has announced the closure of schools in the Cape Town metro, Cape Winelands, Overberg, and parts of the West Coast district due to safety concerns. Following consultations with the Provincial Disaster Risk Management Centre and the South African Weather Service, 20 schools have received closure approval, and 137 schools have reported infrastructure damage. Schools in the affected districts have been notified.

South African Democratic Teachers’ Union concerned about the increasing attacks on schools and principals

The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union says it is concerned about the increasing attacks on schools, principals, and teachers by community structures. Schools have reopened for the third term. In Limpopo alone, four schools were robbed and vandalised during the holidays, resulting in damages costing thousands of rands. Biden pledges more support for Ukraine at NATO summit

June Commodity Prices Surge Across Namibia

In June, the Namibia Statistics Agency reported significant price increases for basic commodities. Transport costs rose by 8.3%, coffee, tea, and cocoa by 14.4%, and fruit 13.4%.
