South Africa’s DA Criticizes Ramaphosa’s Call for Spaza Shops to Register Within 21 Days

  In S.A, the DA says the call by president Cyril Ramaphosa to have all spaza shops in South Africa registered with local municipality within 21 days, after complying with all health and other compliance requirements, is unrealistic. The DA’s Marina van Zyl says the geographical spread and the lack of capacity in local municipalities, will make it very difficult to have the more than 150-thousand spaza shops registered:

Protests Intensify in Mozambique After Controversial Election Results

  Protests have intensified in Mozambique following the disputed victory of the Frelimo party in the October 9 election. CNBCAfrica says with over 56% voter abstention, clashes between police and protesters have resulted in at least 30 deaths, while human rights groups condemn the government's violent crackdown on demonstrators. Independent candidate Venancio Mondlane, whose supporters believe the election was rigged, has called for more protests.
