The President spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday after Hamas released another 17 hostages in exchange for 39 Palestinians detained by the Israelis. ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa says the government is bringing about real transformation in giving access to clean running water to people across the country. He unveiled the Bhekindodo Water Scheme in Jozini’s ward ten in KwaZulu-Natal yesterday, as part of the ANC’s election campaign. Ramaphosa has assured Jozini residents that the water roll-out project, benefitting 484 households, will see them accessing clean water.

Police report three suicides involving men over the weekend

A 22-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at Omungwelume village in the Engela Constituency on Friday. His body was found hanging inside a building with a rope around the neck, the Namibian Police Force said in a crime report issued on Sunday. The deceased allegedly also attempted to hang himself two months ago. The motive behind his action is unknown. No suicide note was left behind and investigations are ongoing.

UN warns of “famine” in Gaza

The UN World Food Program is warning Gaza may be on the "brink of famine". The WFP's Executive Director Cindy McCain confirmed that the UN has managed to feed more than 110,000 people in Gaza since the pause in the fighting. But she warned that much more help was still needed. Speaking to CBS McCain also said other countries needed to help support the agency's efforts.

Hamas releases 17 hostages in third daily release

Hamas released 17 hostages on Sunday, including a four-year-old American girl. It was the third daily release of hostages, with the fourth and final set of prisoners expected to be set free on Monday. Israel in turn released 39 Palestinians. However, as Mia Alberti in Lebanon reports the pause in fighting could be extended beyond the current four-day agreement.
