Hyphen to create 18 thousand Green Hydrogen jobs in construction phase

Hyphen Hydrogen Energy's Senior Economic Development Manager, Johannes Shipepe, has revealed that the Green Hydrogen project is expected to create 18,000 jobs during its construction and operation phases, with 30% of the expenditure being localised. According to the Namibia Press Agency, as part of the Feasibility and Implementation Agreement with the government, a Socio-Economic Development framework has been established to maximize benefits for Namibians.

The Labour Party is on course for one of the biggest majorities in Parliament since the Second World War, according to several new polls. More than 300 thousand Namibians register to vote

The Electoral Commission of Namibia has announced that since the commencement of the general voter registration, a cumulative total number of 366,036 eligible Namibians registered as voters inside the country and at all diplomatic missions abroad. This figure represents an average of 29,918 registered voters per day during the period 10 to 15 June 2024. ECN spokesperson De Wet Siluka.

Civilian deaths in conflicts up by 72%, says United Nations

The United Nations reported that global conflicts in 2023 have resulted in three times more child deaths and twice as many women deaths compared to the previous year, with civilian deaths in armed conflicts rising by 72%. UN rights chief Volker Turk informed the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva that warring parties are increasingly exceeding acceptable and legal boundaries, pointing to the crisis in the Middle East.
