Pakistan's government is clamping down on mass demonstrations, a day former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party said it would hold a public protest in the capital city of Islamabad this week. Khan's supporters and party leaders held several demonstrations last month, demanding he be released from jail.

Kenya’s lawmakers want to extend Presidential term to seven years

Kenyan lawmakers have proposed revising the country’s constitution to extend presidential and parliamentary terms to seven years from five, according to a notice published in the Daily Nation newspaper. A bill submitted to the Senate and first read on 26 September 2024 is under discussion by a committee, according to the notice that calls for the public to submit its views on the proposal.

FNB Namibia expects inflation to reach 4.7% in September

FNB Namibia expects headline inflation to increase to 4.7% year-on-year in September from 4.4% in August, mainly driven by rising food and non-alcoholic beverage prices because of the ongoing drought, while transport costs continue to decline. Core inflation is expected to slightly decrease from 3.8% in August to 3.7% in September. FNB Namibia economist Helena Mboti, explains.
