French far-right leader goes on trial

The French far-right figurehead Marine Le Pen has gone on trial for embezzlement in Paris. She and 26 other National Rally party politicians deny misusing European Union funds. Ross Cullen reports.     According to the Associated Press, Le Pen denied violating any rules. The veteran politician told journalists that she remained confident. She vowed to present the judges with “extremely serious and extremely solid arguments.″

Omuthiya, in the Oshikoto region, is currently facing a severe water crisis, with some residents going without water for several days, even up to a week. New York Mayor charged with taking bribes

Prosecutors have charged New York City Mayor Eric Adams with five counts of criminal offences, including bribery, wire fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations. According to the BBC, the indictment unveiled on Thursday alleges Adams sought and accepted illegal campaign funds and over $100,000 (£75,000) in luxury travel benefits from Turkish businessmen and an official seeking to gain his influence. Consumer Credit Bill to be tabled by Parliament next year, says NAMFISA’s annual report

The Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority has released its annual report which outlines the implementation of key financial regulations and the resolution of 91% of 691 complaints, resulting in N$14.7 million returned to complainants. Namfisa CEO, Kenneth Matomola said most complaints were from micro-lenders, insurers, and pension funds.     He also revealed that the Consumer Credit Bill will be tabled by Parliament next year.
