Ondangwa connects more homes to electricity grid

Over 150 houses in Ondangwa are set to receive electricity. According to the town's spokesperson, Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha, the Council has identified 153 households in the Omahenene location to benefit from the project, funded by the Ministry of Mines and Energy and NORED.

UN says Gaza conflict violates humanitarian law

More than 30,000 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel’s war with Hamas began in October, the country’s health ministry said Thursday adding that around 70% of the casualties are women and children. Meanwhile, the UN’s top human rights official, Volker Türk said all parties to the Gaza conflict have been responsible for “clear violations of international humanitarian law including possible war crimes”.

Local activist opposes Ghana’s anti-LGBTQ+ legislation

Ghana's parliament has approved a bill criminalising LGBTQ+ identity and the formation or funding of LGBTQ+ groups, punishable by up to three to five years in prison, respectively. The bill will come into effect only if President Nana Akufo-Addo signs it into law. Linda Baumann an activist for the rights of women, and the LGBTQI community says the bill should not be enacted into law.

The European Union has become the first international body to criminalise the most serious cases of environmental damage that are “comparable to ecocide”.
