Solar Century Africa and SolNam Energy Secure License for 60 MWp Solar Project

Solar Century Africa Limited and SolNam Energy have received their updated generation license from the Electricity Control Board for the SolNam 60 MWp solar project near Keetmanshoop. The joint development agreement, signed early last year, has progressed with secured land, environmental clearance, and a target financial close in 2024. Pinehas Mutota, the General Manager of Economic Regulations at ECB, provides insights on the license.

SWAPO's Deputy Secretary General, Uahekua Herunga, has contested former Cabinet minister Jerry Ekandjo's suggestion that the position of SWAPO president at the upcoming extraordinary congress should be reserved for men. Ekandjo argued for gender balance but also recommended Swapo Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's resignation if she aims to contest for the party presidency. Herunga, a beneficiary of the 50:50 gender balance Swapo policy, believes Ekandjo's perspective lacks comprehensive consideration.
