Opuwo Town Council maintains status quo

The Opuwo Town Council on Tuesday re-elected its councillors in their various positions. In an election held at the town council chambers, Rosa Mbinge-Tjeundo, a Popular Democratic Movement councillor, retained her mayoral position after accepting an unopposed nomination from fellow party member Kaare Lucuis Mupya. The Bank of Namibia will announce its decision on the repo rate today. The central bank's Monetary Policy Committee decided to continue safeguarding the peg between the Namibian Dollar and the South African Rand while supporting the domestic economy and keeping the Repo rate unchanged at 7.75 percent in October. Increased infant mortality rate recorded between 2018 and 2021: Shimuafeni

Namibia’s Statistician-General, Alex Shimuafeni, on Tuesday announced a recorded rise in the country’s infant mortality rate between 2018 and 2021. Namibia’s leading causes of death revealed

The Namibia Statistics Agency has revealed that between 2018 and 2021, the country’s death toll rose from 18,939 to 24,117, and in 2020, hypertensive diseases were cited as the primary cause of death, while COVID-19 took the lead in 2021, followed by HIV and lower respiratory infections.
