Bangladesh’s Sheikh Hasina wins record fifth term in controversial polls

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has won a fourth straight term in office in an election that was boycotted by the main opposition party. The country's Election Commission said that her Awami League party won more than 50% of the seats in the parliamentary election. A final official declaration from the poll panel is expected soon. An investigation is ongoing into the cause of a blowout on an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 flight from Portland Oregon to Ontario California.
