Democrats take back US lawmaker George Santos’ seat

Democrat Tom Suozzi has won a special election to replace disgraced US lawmaker George Santos in New York. The Republican Representative was expelled from Congress in December after being charged with fraud, money laundering, and lying to lawmakers. The race was viewed by many as an early test for November's general election, with immigration, the economy and abortion coming out as key issues for voters. Sally Patterson has more.

UK peer warns of unintended impact of Rwanda bill

The former chief of the British armed forces has warned that the threat to deport migrants to Rwanda may undermine trust and co-operation between the UK and its allies. Gaza ceasefire resolution to be tabled before the end of the week

The Arab group of countries at the United Nations say a draft resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza will be table before the Security Council in the coming days. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Palestine's Ambassador, Riyad Mansour said the draft has massive support in the council and will be put to a vote even without the support of the United States.
